Visit a Trio of Private Gardens
TRIP INCLUDES: Transportation, Sue Weigel Host/ Escort, 3 Private Garden Tours, Box Lunch and Stoneleigh Gardens and Taxes.
David Culp
David Culp has spent more than 30 years creating a sensational year-round garden at Brandywine Cottage that provides an abundance of joy, both indoors and out. He has been lecturing about gardens nationwide for more than 25 years.
Brandywine Cottage is Culps beloved 2-acre Pennsylvania garden where he mastered the design technique of layeringinterplanting many different species in the same area so that as one plant passes its peak, another takes over.
We have visited his amazing garden before, but we have not been there in about 10 years. It will be exciting to see all that has changed in 10 years. You will enjoy a tour and time to explore on your own at this well-known, one-of-a-kind and much visited garden.
Stoneleigh
Once owned by three generations of the Haas family is located in Villa Nova. Stoneleigh is a stunning reflection of more than a century of loving care by three different families. Extraordinary trees, sweeping vistas, and intimate garden spaces offer a variety of opportunities to explore, learn, relax, and be inspired. Stoneleigh is a unique garden blending history, horticulture, ecological and conservation values, and Natural Lands emphasis on access to nature for all. Charles Cresson
Cresson is a well-known author, lecturer and plantsman. His beloved Hedgleigh Springs has a densely planted house border glowed with late-season perennials mixed with cannas and other tropicals. Charles grows more than 2,000 plants, many that he propagated himself, including 40 types of camellia in his gardens. Hedgleigh is a century old, 2-acre paradise that has been passed down through the ages from Charles great-grandfather. Charles and Hedgleigh Springs has been featured in a TV special with Monty-Don, the well-known British gardener and TV personality.
Andrew Bunting
Andrew is the vice-president of the PA Horticulture Society. He has been the curator of the Scott Arboretum at Swarthmore College, author, lecturer, on the All-America Selections Committee and chair of the Magnolia Society, to name a few. His 1/3 acre property in Swarthmore, known as Belvidere is small but impactful and thrives in his zone 7 garden. He is living proof that a spectacular garden can be created and pushed to the limits in such a small space. His home and garden have been completely renovated and well worth the journey he took in the renovation. The name Belvidere came from a little town in southeastern Nebraska, where his grandfather used to have a farm.
