Day 1

Depart Mt. Joy 6:30 AM

Depart Harrisburg 7:00 AM

Depart Waynesboro 9:00 AM

Arrive at Mt Vernon for a guided tour at the Mt Vernon Inn. George Washington, commander in chief of American forces in the Revolutionary War and the first president of the United States, called Mount Vernon home for more than 40 years. Today, guests to Mount Vernon can visit the Mansion & more than a dozen original structures including Washington’s Tomb. Lunch on your own. Depart for Charlottesville VA. Check in at the Hyatt Place, Charlottesville. Dinner is included this evening. After dinner relax at the hotel or stroll the downtown. Our hotel is located downtown.

Day 2

Enjoy breakfast at your leisure at the hotel. Check out and depart for Montpelier. Enjoy a guided tour. James and Dolley regularly welcomed guests to Montpelier and the centerpiece of the Montpelier experience is the Mansion. The guided first floor tour takes visitors through the Drawing Room, filled with art and conversation pieces and the dining room where they hosted dinner parties for distinguished guests, friends and family. Also included is the Presidential Library, which is filled with books and maps that reveal the brilliant mind of James Madison. Next we are off to visit Monticello for a tour and time to explore and have lunch on your own. A guided tour of Monticello provides an intimate look at the extraordinary house Thomas Jefferson built and furnished for himself and his family. See the furnishings, art, books, gadgets and other objects that reveal Jefferson's unique mind. After touring this beautiful estate head to Colonial Williamsburg. Check into the Williamsburg Lodge. Dinner is included this evening at Captain George’s Seafood Buffet. If you are not a seafood lover no worries there is a ton of items for land lubbers. After dinner relax at the hotel.

Day 3

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Depart with a Colonial Williamsburg guide for a walking tour in the historic district. This will be a leisurly paced walk. After your guided tour enjoy the day free at your leisure with your one day pass of the Historic Area. The Historic Area of Colonial Williamsburg recreates the atmosphere and lifestyle of Virginia’s colonial capital city. The Historic Area includes 89 original 18th-century buildings, as well as hundreds more buildings reconstructed based on historical records and archaeological research. Explore our community, interact with historic interpreters, and learn more about the daily lives of the diverse men and women who lived in Williamsburg before and during the American Revolution. You will have access to a selection of guided sites, historic trades, buildings and gardens, as well as staged performances. Plus, your admission includes access to the Art Museums. Dinner is included this evening at a Tavern. After dinner we will have a Colonial Williamsburg special presentation for the group.

Day 4

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Check out of the hotel and depart for Jamestown Settlement. You will have admission to explore the settlement at your leisure. Begin with the documentary film 1607: A Nation Takes Root, shown every 30 minutes. Next, visit the exhibition galleries that chronicle the nation’s 17th-century beginnings in Virginia. Go outdoors where historical interpreters discuss and demonstrate 1600s life. Re-creation of Paspahegh Town, depicts culture of coastal Virginia’s original inhabitants. Board a re-creation of one of the three ships that sailed to Virginia in 1607 to establish
America’s first permanent English colony. Re-created James Fort, venture inside the walls of the re-created 1610-14 fort and discover how the colonists would have lived. Enjoy lunch on your own in the
Jamestown Settlement Café before we depart for the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Enjoy indoor exhibits and films that chronicle America’s evolution from colonial status to nationhood and explore the American ideal of liberty. Watch Liberty Fever, shown every 30 minutes in the museum theater. Follow an American Revolution timeline that provides a visual journey from the 13 British colonies in the 1750s to westward expansion of the new United States in the 1790s. Visit the exhibition galleries, where period artifacts combine with sensory experiences to tell a compelling story of the American Revolution. Go outdoors to the living-history areas. Continental Army encampment – With daily demonstrations, including artillery, depicts daily life of American soldiers during the Revolution. Revolution-era farm, based on a real-life 18th-century family, depicts a rural lifestyle of the time period. 4PM Depart for return with memories full of Virginia history. Dinner and rest stops on own en route back.
