Day 1

En route to Gastonia, NC, we’ll stop at Black Dog Salvage Market place, Home of the TV Series Salvage Dawgs on the DIY network. They love showing people that salvage is beautiful and how important it is to save these pieces of history and American craftsmanship from going to the landfill. You can explore 40,000sqft of treasures from around the world here in the Marketplace, full of vintage and unusual antiques for the home. After we check into the hotel in Gaffney, SC we’ll enjoy a local dinner tonight. (D)

Day 2

Breakfast included this morning. Before we visit the World of Coca Cola—we’ll stop for lunch, after that enjoy a refreshing, ice-cold Coca-Cola when you arrive and taste more than 100 beverages from around the world. Immerse yourself in the rich history of Coca-Cola by exploring more than 1,200 artifacts, Explore the myths and legends around the secret formula for Coca-Cola in the Vault of the Secret Formula and Journey around the world through a 4-D movie experience. You can also get an inside look at the bottling process. We are moving on to Mobile, AL tonight. Dinner stop en route , on own. (B, L) **We turn our clocks back an hour en route to the hotel**

Day 3

Enjoy Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will tour the Bellingrath Home & Gardens. This means experiencing 65 acres of year-round beauty. Within this beautiful estate are several gardens and landscapes that showcase their own specific variety of wonder. The Bellingrath Museum Home was built in 1935 as the Bellingraths’ permanent residence. The Bellingraths’ made their fortune early in the Coca Cola Company. The 15-room home was built using bricks dating to 1853 and ironwork from the 1870s salvaged form historic structures in Mobile. It is completely furnished with the antiques collected by Mrs. Bellingrath. Take time after your tour to grab lunch in the café “on your own” before we depart for New Orleans. Upon arrival in New Orleans, meet your guide for a bus tour of the city. See the French Quarter, Garden District, Marigny, Treme and more. Route includes stops to get out and have a closer look at the sculpture gardens and even a chance to indulge in a beignet if you like. You will check into Hampton Inn & Suites New Orleans Downtown/French Quarter Area and freshen up before your authentic New Orleans dinner this evening at Mulate’s. (B, D)

Day 4

Enjoy Breakfast at the hotel before we depart for the Mardi Gras Museum – you will get a good look at all the amazing floats used in the world famous parade and a history or this great event. This afternoon we’ll take a bayou tour of the famous Honey Island Swamp. You’ll glide through gator territory on a small, flat-bottomed boat and hear all about the swamp and its natural inhabitants from a local, expert captain. They will give you an authentic tour of one of America’s most unique ecosystems. Many of the captains have lived on the water for most of their lives and have earned field degrees to give you the best experience possible. As a member of the Nature Conservancy, they believe that we all have a responsibility to protect the environment around us. On your tour, you’ll have the chance to see alligators, wild boar, raccoons, snakes, owls, egrets, and more – all in their natural habitat, and just a few feet from your boat! Tonight – enjoy New Orleans your way! (B)

Enjoy Breakfast at the hotel – Board the America with American Cruise lines for your 5 day—4 night cruise. Your round-trip Mississippi River adventure begins and ends in New Orleans, a melting pot of French, African, and American culture. Houmas House, LA ~ Admire the southern splendor of “The Sugar Palace” as you step into 16 rooms filled with period antiques and Louisiana artwork. Following your introduction to the Houmas House and its history, explore on your own and enjoy lush acres of gardens, ponds, and a majestic live oak alley.  (B, L, D)

Day 7

Baton Rouge, LA
Baton Rouge features all the history you would expect in a state capital, but with an added downhome flavor that makes it truly unique. Led by your private guide, enjoy a tour of the cities’ most famous attractions, including the Old and New State Capitol and the interactive Louisiana State Museum. Excursions and entertainment tour available are USS Kidd, Baton Rouge Shuttle Exploration, The Battle of Baton Rouge, Louisiana Art & Science Museum, Baton Rouge Spirits Experience & Tasting, and Cajun Pride Swamp Excursion. Day 8

Oak Alley, LA
The famous ancient oaks bordering your path to the mansion are your first sight upon stepping ashore. The perfectly aligned 300-year-old trees form a canopy which set a particularly grand entrance for our arrival. Southern belles enjoying the shade of the leafy canopy greet us on arrival and are our guides for the day. In small groups, we bring you through the antebellum plantation’s many stately rooms and show you why it has earned the name “Grande Dame of The Great River Road.” After the tour, join us for a special gathering with mint juleps on the west lawn before a visit to their popular gift shop which is known for its world-famous pralines. Day 9

Arrive back in New Orleans. As we depart en route north, we will stop for a visit in Tuscaloosa to tour the Battle-Friedman House. Built in 1835, this historic home has been a fixture of Tuscaloosa for close to 200 years. Here you will learn about the families that lived in this home, their accomplishments, and their influences on the city of Tuscaloosa and its history. We will continue toward home with a dinner stop in Chatanooga and overnight near Louden, TN. (B, D) **We switch back to Eastern time zone before the hotel**

Day 10

Enjoy breakfast at hotel. We depart for home with a stop en route for lunch “on own” before we get to Roanoke and tour St Andrews Catholic Church. Depart for home with a dinner stop “on own” en route. (B) 8:30 PM Approximate arrival home
