Thursday, September 10: Depart for Knoxville, TN. En route we’ll stop and see the National D Day Memorial in Bedford, VA. This amazing memorial was set in Bedford due to this community suffering the nation’s severest percentage of D-Day losses. In 1 day this small town lost 23 young men. This memorial will educate you and touch your heart at the same time. Enjoy Lunch "on your own" at Liberty Station. Depart for Knoxville with a dinner stop en route "on own". Check into your Knoxville hotel for an overnight stay.
Friday, September 11: Check out and depart for Nashville. Today you will start your day with a tour of the Belle Meade plantation, an 1853 Greek-Revival Mansion. Your tour takes you through a century of Belle Meade Plantation’s history as told through the eyes of the Harding and Jackson Families and the skilled laborers who collectively worked to make the Plantation America’s premier Thoroughbred Horse Farm. After the guided tour of the Mansion, enjoy a wine tasting and time to explore. Next you will visit Cheekwood Estates and Gardens. Begin here with a hot buffet luncheon, then take a guided tour of 55 acres of majestic botanical gardens, world-class art exhibitions, and the historic Cheek family home. You will also get to explore the Chihuly exhibit on site at this time. Tonight we’ll check in at the Gaylord Opryland hotel for the next 2 nights. Begin with a tour of this amazing property and a ride on the Delta Riverboat inside the Gaylord. Enjoy this evening "on your own". Inside the Gaylord you will find over 12 Restaurants, many shops and an amazing indoor garden/ atrium to explore and enjoy.B, L
Saturday, September 12: Take your time this morning to grab a bite to eat with your breakfast voucher and explore the hotel before we visit the Country Music Hall of Fame. The Hall adds a strikingly modern touch to the Nashville skyline and is situated at the epicenter of the city’s rapidly growing core, a block from the popular honky-tonks of Broadway. The core exhibit will immerse you in the history and sounds of country music, its origins and traditions, and the stories and voices of many of its honored architects. You will have time to grab a bite to eat on your own before we return to freshen up for this evening’s dinner & Show. Dinner at the Backstage Opry Grill and the enjoy the show at the Grand Ole Opry.
Sunday, September 13: Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before we depart for St Louis. Upon arrival in the city you will visit the Anheuser-Busch Factory, enjoy lunch at the Budweiser Biergarten and take a tour of the brewery including a visit with the Clydesdales! Later check into the Peartree Inn at Union Station for the next 2 nights. Enjoy the manager’s reception (Light snacks, beer & Wine) and the evening "on your own". You will find an on site restaurant, Sybergs and many others within 2 blocks and you are just a 5 minute walk to Union Station Entertainment complex. This has a lights show, bars & restaurants, sightseeing Wheel and more.B, L
Monday, September 14: Today you will visit the superb, 79-acre Missouri Botanical Garden and its Climatron conservatory. Founded in 1859, the 79-acre Missouri Botanical Garden is the nation's oldest botanical garden in continuous operation and an oasis in the city of St. Louis. Enjoy the Tram tour here and time to explore “on your own afterwards. Next stop is the famous Gateway Arch. The Gateway Arch is a 630-foot monument in St. Louis, Missouri. Clad in stainless steel and built in the form of a weighted catenary arch, it is the world's tallest arch, the tallest man-made monument in the Western Hemisphere, and Missouri's tallest accessible building. You will have tickets to go to the top if you like, explore the area and take a 1 hour sight seeing cruise before we return to the hotel and freshen up before your local dinner tonight.B, D
Tuesday, September 15: Check out and depart for Louisville, Kentucky. We’ll stop for lunch "on your own" en route. You cannot visit Louisville without seeing the historic Churchill Downs. This is where the Kentucky Derby is held each year. Your visit will include a tour of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum. Next we’ll check in to the Drury East for a 2 night stay, relax and enjoy the manager reception that includes heavy hors d’ourves (Plenty for dinner) and cocktails. You have the evening to enjoy on your own.B, D
Wednesday, September 16: Today we’ll enjoy a tour of The Cave Hill Cemetery. The tour will include it’s nicely landscaped grounds and sculptures, the graves of Muhammad Ali, Colonel Sanders and more. After our cemetery tour we will depart for Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest. Enjoy a box lunch en route. At this 16,137 acre arboretum you will have a guided tour of the Edible Garden after which you may explore the visitor’s center, trails, observation tower, boardwalk to the treetop canopy and more. Depart for your next stop, a tour and tasting at the Jim Beam Distillery. We’ll be back to the hotel in time for you to enjoy the manager’s reception.B, L, D
Thursday, September 17: Check out and depart towards Ohio. Our 1st stop is Yew Dell Gardens, in Crestwood, KY. This is a nicely done 30-acre public garden with theme gardens and interesting plants. You will enjoy a 1-hour guided tour and time afterwards to explore ‘on your own’. Depart with a box lunch. We’ll head for Ohio. Arriving at Inniswood Metro Park in Westerville, Ohio you will have 90 minutes to explore this is a 123-acre public park about 20 minutes north of Columbus (part of Columbus park system) that’s disguised as a botanic garden. Check into the Drury in Dublin, OH. You’ll be there in time to take advantage of the Manager’s Reception for heavy hors d’ouvres & cocktails.B, L, D
Friday, September 18: Enjoy Breakfast and Check out. Before you depart towards home, you will visit Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in the morning. The Conservatory’s extensive gardens and art collections pulse with life and the truly exotic wonders of nature. Explore over 400 species of plants from around the world in the Conservatory’s biomes, take in the beauty of James Turrell’s Light Raiment II, or simply marvel at the intricate glasswork of Dale Chihuly. This will be a self guided visit for you to enjoy and explore at your leisure. Be sure to visit the outside gardens and Scott’s demonstration gardens while you are here. Depart for home about 12:30 with Lunch and dinner stops en route "on your own".
