Enjoy breakfast at hotel before checking out. We will depart for Mackinaw City with a fast food stop on your own. We will be taking the ferry to Mackinac Island, a place where the horse is king and the streets have been car-free for over 100 years, for your 2 night stay at the Grand Hotel, a place of old-world hospitality and charm. Rich in history and offering exceptional accommodations, with each guest room uniquely decorated and meals that are an event, The Grand was named the Best Historic Hotel by USA Today! Once arriving at the ferry, your luggage will be taken from the motorcoach and delivered to your hotel room. Upon arrival on the island, we will have a carriage tour of the Island and afterwards you will have a choice of staying downtown for the festival or being dropped at the hotel. The Annual Mackinac Island Lilac Festival is the largest and most historic festival on Mackinac Island. It began in June 1949 by two local residents, celebrating the lilacs and their uniqueness and history to Mackinac Island. If you decide to stay downtown, you will be able to enjoy live music and watch the Grand Parade! Dinner will be included this evening at one of the many Grand Hotel restaurants.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning. Today is yours to enjoy the Grand Hotel and the island at your leisure. The quaint island has a main street just down the hill with fudge shops, souvenir shops, restaurants and waterfront. On the island you will find lovely walking trails, Fort Mackinac, (where you can see demonstrations and reenactments), bike rentals to see more of the island and much more for you to see. Famously, you won’t find any motorized vehicles, you can however, get a horse drawn taxi if you prefer not to walk. As evening falls, The Grand Hotel transforms into a place of timeless sophistication, where every night is a special occasion. After 6:30 PM, we honor this 139-year tradition by requiring guests to dress with elevated evening attire in all main areas of the hotel. Men are required to wear a suit coat or sport coat, necktie, and dress pants, while women wear dresses, skirts, blouses, dress sweaters, or dress slacks. Dinner will be included this evening overlooking the Straits of Mackinac in the Main Dining Room.

Enjoy breakfast before checking out of the Grand Hotel. Your luggage will be taken to the motorcoach. We will be leaving the island by ferry to the mainland. Today we will be visiting Frankenmuth, Michigan’s “Little Bavaria”. Our first stop will be for a ride on the Bavarian Belle Riverboat! Take in the views and receive a narrated tour of Frankenmuth on the Cass River. Afterwards, enjoy lunch “on your own” and free time at the River Place Shops. Tonight we will check into the Bavarian Inn Lodge for your 2 night stay. Since its original founding as the Union House in 1888, the Bavarian Inn has been offering an extraordinary blend of great German food and hospitality in Frankenmuth. As the years have passed, they’ve added the Lodge and Conference Center and over 20 retail locations. Enjoy a German family style dinner tonight with Live Music! Enjoy Oma’s Breakfast Buffet this morning, with so many items to choose from. With full bellies, we’ll take a bus tour where a step-on guide will join our coach and give a tour of Frankenmuth and the history behind the town. After this fabulous tour, we will explore the Frankenmuth Historical Museum—current exhibits span permanent and changing galleries detailing the "First 15" German settler families. Next, we’ll make our way to the world’s largest Christmas store, Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland! From humble beginnings in 1945, Bronner's Christmas Wonderland has grown to become the World's Largest Christmas store. Feel free to grab a bite to eat on your own, at the Season’s Eatings Cafe located right inside their store. We will return to the Bavarian Inn where you can visit the Castle Shops for all the great souvenirs, baked goods and treats you want to take home before going back to the hotel to relax and freshen up for dinner. Our evening will begin with a wine tasting, sampling several private label German wines, followed by a glockenspiel viewing. The Bavarian Inn Glockenspiel Tower houses a magnificent 35-bell carillon, a beautiful figurine movement and an illuminated clock, all imported from Germany! Before striking the hour, and on each quarter hour, the clock sounds the 5-bell Westminster chime. The Glockenspiel plays several selections which are immediately followed by figurine movement depicting the legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Enjoy a plated meal this evening including: Homemade Bread, Cole Slaw and three Seasonal Salads, Noodle Soup, Hot Vegetable and Buttered Noodles, Chef’s Choice Dessert*, Coffee, Tea, Milk or Fountain Soft Drinks and your choice of: Frankenmuth Chicken (3 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and baked dressing), New York Strip Steak (Charbroiled New York Strip prepared to medium, served with potato cheese puffs) or Catch of the Day (Fish served with potato cheese puffs). Enjoy the rest of the evening at your leisure.
