Texas Big Cities & Hidden Gems

Day 1

Depart on your Texas Adventure! You will enjoy so much along the way. Tucked into the hills of Eastern Kentucky is Country Music’s hallowed ground, Butcher Holler, the home place of Loretta Lynn. Our first official stop will be here to see the place that shaped her into the Coal Miner’s Daughter, and tour the cabin that she and her famous sister Crystal Gayle grew up in. Stand on the porch where they sang songs and honed their skills before becoming some of Country Music’s greatest stars. Inside the cabin you will find authentic memorabilia, her mother’s original washboard, porch swing, bed and more. Next we will take a step back in time at Webb’s Grocery. The General Store near Butcher Hollow is a historic landmark. Built in 1918, it is now on the National Register of Historic Places. Until 2018, Herman Webb, Loretta Lynn’s brother, ran the store and offered tours of their childhood home down the road. Herman Webb passed away in 2018, leaving the General Store as a reminder of the area’s rich history. The store was portrayed in the movies 'Coal Miner’s Daughter', 'Let It Be War', and 'Fifth Hollar'. We will then make our way to Lexington, KY where dinner will be included and we will check in to our hotel for the night.

Day 2

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before checking out and departing for Memphis, Tennessee! Today is a travel day, rest stops will be made along the way as we journey to the Guest House at Graceland, a resort hotel located in the heart of Elvis Presley’s Graceland! Located just steps away from the iconic Graceland Mansion, The Guest House at Graceland welcomes groups from around the world with Southern hospitality, royal treatment and luxurious amenities that would make the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll himself proud. Dinner will be included at the resort tonight. Later you will find Elvis movies playing in the Theater and PBJ’s for late night snacks.

Day 3

Enjoy breakfast at the resort this morning before experiencing Graceland!
You've heard the music, now see the place Elvis called home. Explore the beautiful mansion, walk the gardens where he found peace, tour the aircraft that he traveled on from show to show, and encounter Elvis Presley's Memphis entertainment complex for an unforgettable experience featuring legendary costumes, artifacts, and personal mementos from Elvis and his family. We will depart this afternoon, getting closer to Texas, as we overnight in Hope, Arkansas, Birthplace of Bill Clinton. A local dinner will be included tonight.

Day 4

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before checking out and departing for the BIG D - Dallas! WELCOME TO TEXAS!
Today you will tour AT&T Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys! Afterwards, we’ll visit Historic Grapevine, a hidden gem, just outside of Dallas where we will enjoy a tour and lunch. Tonight we check in to the Historic Stockyards Courtyard Marriot in Fort Worth. Explore the Stockyards tonight!

Day 5

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning before we take on Dallas. Your guide will show off her city from the comfort of our motorcoach. Dealy Plaza, JFK, The Cowboys The Bush Library and more. Enjoy free time for lunch at the Market and then we’ll head back to the Historic Stockyards in Fort Worth. Here you will be free to explore as you like. You can watch the cattle drive on main street, enjoy live music, explore the shops, museums and restaurants, or even take a wagon or buggy tour! Grab a bite for dinner while we are here, great steaks and BBQ abound! Return to the resort for the evening.

Day 6

After breakfast at the resort, we check out and depart for our next gem, Waco! Home to HGTV’s Chip & Joanna Gaines, here you will have time to enjoy the Silos, Jimmy Don’s metal shop and more! You will have time to grab lunch here 'on your own'. From here we’re off to Georgetown, making a stop at a Texas tradition along the way, Buc-ees! You must see it, great stop for souvenirs. Once we arrive in Georgetown, you’ll see the town square and have time to explore, the antique shops, grab a cookie or enjoy some people watching and fresh air! We’ll check in nextdoor at our Round Rock hotel and freshen up for a special dinner this evening!

Day 7

Along with the regular breakfast, we’ll enjoy a special local breakfast treat this morning before making our way to Austin, the capitol of Texas! We’ll enjoy a tour of this great city with a step on guide. Highlights of Austin include Zilker Park, Lady Bird Lake, LBJ Library and this cities history with bats. This evening enjoy a special local catered dinner at the hotel.

Day 8

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before visiting San Antonio. Today you will have the day at your leisure in this beautiful city. You will be provided with a ‘Hop on Hop Off’ sightseeing bus ticket to explore San Antonio on your own. With stops at so many favorite spots, The Riverwalk, The Alamo, The Pearl District, Historic Market Square, Missions, The Botanical Gardens and more, you’ll be able to see anything you’d like. We’ll return to our hotel in Austin this evening.

Day 9

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before checking out and departing for Houston. We’ll enjoy a step on guided tour of some of Houston’s highlights before visiting the NASA Johnson Space Center. For more than half a century, NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston has led our nation and the world on a continuing adventure of human exploration, discovery and achievement. The center has played a vital role in powering our country into the 21st century through technological innovations and scientific discoveries. Afterwards we’ll enjoy an included dinner and check in to our hotel for the evening.

Day 10

After breakfast we say goodbye to Texas, but don’t worry, we still have so much to see! We will arrive this afternoon in NOLA - New Orleans, Louisiana! Enjoy a guided tour and check into your hotel to freshen up for your Jazz Dinner Cruise this evening along the Mississippi River.

Day 11

Grab breakfast at the hotel this morning before departing for Chattanooga, Tennessee. Today is a travel day, getting us a little closer to home. Rest stops will be made along the way before checking in to our hotel for the evening.

Day 12

After breakfast, we will check out and make a stop at Rock City. Here you can see 7 states from the overlook on a clear day. We will continue our journey home, making rest stops along the way, and checking in to our hotel in Roanoke, Virginia for the night, where we will enjoy a local dinner.

Day 13

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before we check out and depart for HOME. We’ll stop at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA and at Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest Home before arriving back in Waynesboro around 5:30PM.
